Ok, I thought I'll slap a bit of light on behind the scenes process so you can get an idea how I think and work.

Nek is a continuation of Dragon Slayer Survival Guide joke. I thought I need some fantasy cliche besides bikini armor so I came up with the idea of these cute neko girls with huge swords.

I'm sketching in layers until I found a good pose/look and nice details. Even in cartoon/manga style I check the anatomy using references (drawings or photos) or life observations. I paint fixes in new layers so I can always go back and erase if something doesn't work.

I sketch in Photoshop using standard hard edge round brush with opacity set to pressure and monochrome palette. Some prefer blue but warm, sepia tones are also good.

A lot of design decisions done in that rough sketch phase.

wow o: Do you set the tip size to pressure as well, or do you erase around to play with the lines?

Yes, tip size is also set to pressure. Pretty standard setup. Since I paint in layers I could erase lines as well to get the shape or line I need.

Cool :3 I'm hoping to get something like the type of control you have on your lines, but it's a lot harder than it looks. ^^;
